Hi Kathleen,
No, you will not need to have SSO configured and tested before you can access your test environments in September (or whenever that actually happens); you will be able to sign in with an internal account until SSO is configured.
As far as timelines for having SSO set up, that information has not been announced yet (AFAIK). However, as I recall from the Vanguard process (and Lauren, Adam, and Heidi can either confirm or clarify), the SSO configuration information was part of the second round of set-up … and happened a couple of months after the initial Migration and Field Mapping forms.
And yes, there will be a way for community users or others without SSO accounts to use your libraries’ services, e.g., to request materials from other libraries.
Thanks,
Matt

Subject: [opal_migration_leads] Single sign-on questions
Bluffton currently does not use SSO, but we anticipate doing so for Alma.
In order to communicate correctly with my campus IT folks, I’m wondering if we will need to have Single Sign On set up before we can use our environments for testing, which I believe will be in September.
Or is there some particular date by which we should have this set up?
Also, will there be some way to have guest access so community patrons or others without a campus Microsoft account can place OhioLINK requests?
Thanks,
Kathleen Aufderhaar
