Hello everyone,

Here's this week's digest summarizing focus areas for the Alma migration -

The recording link<https://ohionet-org.zoom.us/rec/share/dxtFyd60saJLNtI1ULtlTK_S8__MzQo01ZTEqDIhymD8YU2QCmYc70NT6O-J0YH5.TmMLPQkX1PL4fL3o?pwd=PLtrwm2JRzhwCbA_auYwEEE1j9OaAMSk> for the October 18, OPAL Migration Project Lead meeting has been posted<https://info.opal-libraries.org/alma/migration>.

Upcoming Meetings & Deadlines

  * OhioLINK/Ex Libris Project Leads Meetings: Cutover Schedule and Additional Product Schedules - Thursday, October 24 at 1 pm.
  * OPAL ILS Migration Conversation - Tuesday, October 22, at 1 pm<https://ohionet-org.zoom.us/j/81951779928?pwd=puSzycKDrEgLEGZhaUBhPIiL2iHAnN.1> (working around Circ COI and other meetings that week).
  * There was a consensus among OPAL Project Leads to move to a monthly schedule with ad hoc sessions if needed. The next meeting will be November 15 at 1 pm.

Next Steps
* There's no need to prioritize record cleanup in Alma just yet as the data will be re-imported and some of the issues involving large numbers of records (multimatch, OPAL & OhioLINK consortial electronic resources etc.) are being addressed. You can practice turning on e-resources if you would like to experiment with the process and see how things look in Primo, but that data will be migrated again in the final data pull.
* As requested, we've posted a list of cleanup<https://info.opal-libraries.org/c.php?g=1374647&p=10633296> and other issues that came out of data review. You can find it on the OPAL Alma/ExLibris Migration page under Data Cleanup > Alma. The information will be updated as we move through the rest of the migration process.

Primo VE

  * As you become more familiar with Primo, we recommend making a list of things you would like to change. Over the coming weeks there will be more discussion about areas that may lend themselves to consistent settings across OPAL libraries and where local customizations are preferred.

  * In light of the upcoming migration to the new EBSCOhost UI for databases, you might want to do some searches for EBSCO content in Primo. Although subscribed EBSCO collections can be activated in Alma for link resolving, EBSCO does not allow Primo VE users to search your EBSCO-provided databases' content or indexing directly. This is because the two platforms do not share their indexing with (essentially the reverse of the challenges we currently have linking to ProQuest content from within EBSCO). You may see references to setting up a separate scope in Primo VE using the EBSCOhost API, but there are known limitations to this approach and consensus within some consortia that users don't find it particularly useful. CARLI libraries<https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/i-share/alma/EBSCO-API> who took that approach have stopped using it. Access to the full indexed content of EBSCO resources, will still require linking to the EBSCOhost platform through your A-Z database list, LibGuides, etc.

* Release notes about updates and changes that can affect Primo configurations are posted on ExLibris' Release and Maintenance Schedule<https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/002Primo_VE/Release_and_Maintenance_Schedule> page.

Training
Last week's overview of Alma Analytics just scratched the surface of this tool. For documentation and a deeper dive, access Alma Analytics: Become an Expert<https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Training/Webinars/Alma_Analytics%3A_Become_an_Expert> at your convenience. What was previously referred to as "Design Analytics" in some of the training materials has been relabeled "Access Analytics" under Analytics > Create Analysis.

Have a good week!
