[opal_migration_leads] Wrestling with the Rapido Patron Query Configuration?

Hello,

If you are debating whether you need to configure patron queries (listed in Institution To Dos for Rapido Waves) our advice is to skip this for now, especially if you already have other communication channels in place that your community is familiar with. These are optional and can always be added later if needed.

For a deeper dive before deciding, here are the details. Multiple versions of patron queries can be created (up to thirty types) for different situations such as questions about requested items, fee payments, etc. These requests for clarification are sent by library staff to patrons from the Borrowing Requests page (Fulfillment > Resource Sharing > Borrowing Requests) with the expectation that the patron will reply.

When the "send_query_toPatron_use_xsl" setting in the Customer Parameters Mapping Table page (Configuration Menu > Fulfillment > General > Other Settings) is set to "true" the Patron Query Types option appears in the Configuration > Fulfillment > Resource Sharing menu.

More details about the configuration can be found here<https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Rapido/Product_Documentation/02_Configuration/05_Borrowing_Customization#Configuring_Patron_Query_Templates> and under the Configuring Patron Queries section of the Advanced Resource Sharing Configurations<https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/030Fulfillment/080Configuring_Fulfillment/060Resource_Sharing/020Advanced_Resource_Sharing_Configurations> page. Patron query types are the newer method and are deployed by default. The option to configure patron queries using Patron Query Templates will become obsolete, so make sure you don't go to that section (just above the one for Query Types) in the documentation.

Since the details about this in Basecamp are sparse, I hope the summary provides a bit more context to help you determine the best approach for your institution.

Have a good evening!

Best,
Heidi
